No lie! Since I started focusing on self-care and prioritizing it, my morning coffee ritual is like self-care in a cup!

Turn Your Morning Coffee Routine into A Ritual
1. Brewing Your Morning Coffee.
There are several methods to choose from when brewing a good cup of coffee.
So the first step to transforming a boring ho-hum morning coffee routine into a yummy morning coffee ritual is to decide on the correct brewing method for you.
We use four brewing methods at our house (crazy, but it’s true) to brew our morning coffee at home.
Some brewing methods are quick and easy, and some are more of a process to savor and enjoy.
Our favorite Coffee Brewing Methods:
- A Drip Coffee Maker (My husband’s favorite) Quick “Plug and play” action
- French Press-A lovely way to brew a beautiful cup.
- Pour over method-To be savored and enjoyed.
- Nespresso Machine-Quick, easy, and oh-so-amazing!

2. Choose a Coffee You Love + Maybe Splurge a Bit
There are a gazillion coffee types out there at different price points. It can be a bit mind-boggling to tell you the truth.
My husband swears he can’t tell the difference between cheap and expensive coffee, so he uses Yuban coffee (in the drip coffee maker) which we buy in bulk at Costco.
Me? I’m afraid I have to disagree.
I love me some Pike Place Roast!
And I love, love, love my Nespresso coffee maker and all the tasty Nespresso coffee flavors. Picking out my taste each morning is a beautiful thing.
3. The Best Morning Coffee Routine Requires a Perfect Coffee Cup
To create the ideal morning coffee ritual, you must have perfect coffee mugs ready! And not just one or two.
It would be best if you had a nice collection of perfect coffee cups to be 100% guaranteed to have your excellent coffee in your favorite cup every. Single. Morning.
I may have too many coffee cups. Is there such a thing?
Your coffee cup has to be pleasing to the eye; maybe have an excellent quote or something that brings you joy on the front but more importantly, a mug’s got to feel good in your hand.
It needs to be just the right size for your hand and be good enough to keep your coffee nice and toasty for as long as possible.
Microwaving coffee is a buzz kill.
4. Take your time & fix your morning coffee just the way you like it
Some people like to keep things simple and take their coffee black.
But that’s not me. I want to fiddle with my coffee and make it just right. So I start with creamer or half and a half and go from there.
Remember: it’s not just about the destination. It’s about the journey!
If You Take Cream, Try a Milk Frother.
My friend Marlene was the one who showed me the way to the milk frother.
My morning coffee has never been the same.
What a difference it makes! Warm and creamy-foamy creamer?! Yes, please.
After our first throffer finally died, we splurged on the Nespresso Milk Frother. I love it!
My milk frother warms and froths your milk or creamer and whips it into a heavenly cream.
If you haven’t ever tried it on, I highly recommend it.
Enjoy some oh-so-yummy (and healthy) add on’s.
There are a ton of different kinds of creamer.
I am still using that popular (sugar-free) non-dairy creamer that the health gurus say is terrible, bad, bad. But I’m working on it.
The thing is, I am lactose intolerant, so heavy whipping cream, half and half, and even milk all hurt my stomach. I have tried almond milk and coconut milk. The jury is still out for me on those.
In addition to creamer, my hubby and I both add the following ingredients to our morning coffee:
Healthy Add’s for Your Morning Coffee:
Collagen Peptides
I have been taking collagen for years! I first discovered Collagen and Collagen Peptides via one of my favorite health and nutrition gurus, Dr. Axe.
If you don’t follow Dr. Axe– Do! He provides a wealth of health and wellness information that has helped me.
For example, he has several articles about collagen, the different types of collagen, and collagen peptides.

Laird Superfood Creamer
We discovered Laird Superfood Creamers at Costco (and you can also get it from Amazon). We love it, and we’re hooked!
First, this stuff is delicious!
We have only tried the original flavor to date, but they’ve got a ton of flavors, including pumpkin spice, turmeric, chocolate, and more!

Grassfeed Butter or Ghee
We recently started adding ghee and butter to our morning coffee to increase the healthy fats in our diet.
Not only is the butter yummy, but added fat and low sugar coffee help maintain stable blood sugar levels, decreasing cravings for sugar and carbs as we move through the day.

Create a happy place where you go every morning.
Choose a spot in your home where you are most comfortable.
Maybe a favorite chair in a corner or a pretty area on your patio outside if the weather permits. Sometimes I stay in bed!
Your happy place should be quiet and private if possible.
First, gather your favorite things to have at the ready.
Here’s what I’ve got in my happy place:
- Cozy blanket
- Candles, sage, and essentials oils
- Journals, Bible, and books that bring me comfort
- Meditation stones
- Pens, markers, and sticky notes
- Lotion, Chapstick, and eyedrops
Self-care ideas to go with that perfect cup of coffee?
Be Still and know.
Once you get all cozy-comfy, spend time in quiet. I love to listen to simple sounds around me—the dishwasher, windchimes outside, that soft voice inside my heart.
Journal and plan.
Take a few minutes to write in your gratitude journal and do morning pages.
I find it’s a great time to go over the Calendar and write down some to-do’s for the day, the week, and the months to follow.
This is the time when I usually set my intention for the day. What do you want your day to look like?
Daily Meditation
Sometimes I sit in silence and listen, while other days, I use one of my favorite meditation apps and do a 10-15 minute guided meditation.

Now you are ready to slay the day!
Once I have spent some quiet time with my morning coffee, I feel ready to start the day.
Since one cup of coffee in the morning is never enough, I head to our coffee bar and make another cup, but this time I take it with me to the bathroom to start getting ready for the day.

I’m not a coffee drinker but this is totally a cool way to make drinking coffee in the morning feel more like a ritual. Very good read
My favorite way to enjoy coffee is iced Nespresso with oat milk. It’s perfect, but I do enjoy the french press every once in a while too! Great post 🙂
There’s nothing as refreshing as an early morning coffee. I’m bookmarking this article for future references. Such a nice post!
I didn’t realize I had a morning coffee ritual until I read this! Great post! I’m intrigued with the collagen and MCT oil! I’ve heard others mention it, but I haven’t tried it yet! (And I have to recommend, try the almond milk, heated and frothed, on top of hot coffee….it’s SO good!)
This is awesome! Nespresso machine sounds nice. Thanks for sharing your routine! I’m excited to try it ☕
I love your morning coffee routine! Especially the environment where you have your coffee is so peaceful.
For me, I love to have my black with my favorite cup that’s it lol I will try to do better.
Thank you Christine
I love frothing my oat milk into foam! It makes it more of a ritual and it tastes so good!
I’ve been using my frothers for over 10 years! I take my frother everywhere I go and love to share the specialness of it! I lightly sprinkle a small amount of natural sugar on top, it caramelizes just a bit and brings out the most delish carmel notes. Yum! My coffee and my art journaling is ~my self love ritual every morning!
Once you’ve frothed you’ll never look at plain out of the jug “creamer” the same! Great writing Christine!💜
I’m so glad you liked it! I think of you every time I sprinkle sugar on the top of my frothy foam. Thanks for stopping by and for leaving such a sweet comment. Love you. XO
